A book appears overnight in Nora Calloway's locked shop, wrapped in brown paper and written in the hand of a woman who has been dead for more than a year. Its margins lead to H.F., a librarian who hid forty-one books across Harrowgate to keep them from being erased. Then an estate dealer turns up dead after finding part of the trail.
